SP tools Race Day
September 3, 2023
Due to other obligations I had to miss the 5th race of the season of the SLK cup. A couple days later I could go back on track though. One of my sponsors, SP tools, organized a special event and I was asked to do passenger rides the whole day long. No issues, 233 km on track and nothing but smiles and happy people :-)
Race 4, Assen
August 9,2023
Not the biggest fan of this track, but I did have a blast and the results were good again. And again I qualified 5th. In race 1 i moved up 1 spot and finished 4th. Race 2 was filled with great battles but I did drop 1 spot though, 5th. In race 4 I was able to gain that spot back and finished 4th.

Race 3, Zandvoort

Again a good qualifying: 5th.
In race 1 I was able to improve 1 spot and finish 4th. Race 2 was a bit boring, after taking 3rd place it was a lonely race. In race 3 I also came in 3rd after a big battle with Ad Bouman, keeping him behind me.

For the first race I qualified 5th and also ended the race in that position. All damage fixed from the previous round by the way. Race 2 was quite hectic and in the end I finished in 3rd place after some well deserved penalties. In Race 3 I even came in 2nd place after some more penalties for the competition. Day result: 3rd
2023 Season started
April 8, 2023
After a long wait it was finally time for the new season to kick off at the Zandvoort circuit. Qualifying still isn't my strong point so I qualified 12th out of 28 competitors. In race 1 I was already able to move up to 7th position. In race 2 I moved up to 4th but then made my first big mistake and went into the tire wall all by myself. I finished that race in 5th. The damage was fixed as good as possible for race 3 where I finished 4th. End result of the first weekend: 4th place overall.
Race 6: Zandvoort
November 13, 2022
Last race of the season. Qualified 12th but climbed to 6th in race 1. In race 2 I had massive braking issues and after the race we found out that the brake pads were completely gone. In race 3 I climbed from 22nd to 11th in an awesome race. Not great for the points but I had a blast.
I finish the championship in 7th position out of 39 competitors this year.
Race 5: Zandvoort

An unexpected rain shower just before qualifying mixed the whole field up and me, I ended up in POLE POSITION with a gap of 1.2 seconds to second place. Unfortunately the races were dry and I could not keep up with the front runners, I finished 4th, 6th and 7th. Messed up the start in 2 races.
Belcar Skylimit Sprint Cup at Nürburgring

Time for my second race in the Belcar Skylimit Sprint Cup. This one was on my bucket list for this year because this race was held on the legendary Nürburgring GP track. Such an awesome track! Qualifying and race 1 were still a bit wet, but Race 2 was completely dry. I finished 2nd in my class and 11th overall.
Race 4: Zolder

Back on my home track of Zolder in Belgium. This was a great day because in both races I ended in 4th position.
No matter how hard I tried, the top 3 was just out of reach.
Belcar Skylimit Sprint Cup at Circuit Zolder

First entry this year in the Belcar Skylimit Sprint Cup. I was hoping for this to be a good test for when the SLK Cup comes to Zolder end of August. The weather decided otherwise, during qualifying it was poring down with rain and I could not do anything with my intermediate tires. In race 1 a had some clutch issues but thanks to a Safety Car procedure I could catch up again. Had some good fights but the car was drifting all over the place. In Race 2 I had some very good fights and the times were very good for the changeable conditions. Very fun day after all.
Race 3: Zandvoort

Besides some break and clutch issues it was a decent race day. In race 2 I unfortunately had some break fade all of a sudden and had an impact with Richard Schouteren while lying in 5th position, that knocked me back but I still managed a good result at the end of the day.
Race 2 at Assen, 2022

Last week we had the second race day of this 2022 season. It was the very first time for me on the circuit of Assen. I Qualified 12th out of 27 cars and in race 1 I was able to climb to position 7.
In Race 2 I was in 5th position when I made a mistake and went through the gravel trap, after that I had to retire the car unfortunately.
Race 3 was an endurance race of 50 minutes with a mandatory pitstop, for the very first time ever in our championship. I started 26th and finished in 5th position. That became 7th after a speeding penalty under Code 60 (Full Course Yellow).
2022 Season started
May 16, 2022
Finally the 2022 season kicked of at the track of Zandvoort. With 12 new commers the field of SLK's grew to 32 entrants for this race.
With a 7th place in qualifying I was extremely happy, but in the first race I had a rookie who forced me out of the way, which broke my concentration a bit. In the 3 races I came in 11th, 10th and 9th. Missing some speed coming out of corners, which might be me or something in the car. Don't know that yet.
2021 season over
December, 2021
This season has come to an end. With all results counted I would have come 5th in the championship again, but 2 results are excluded which meant I finished my second season in the cup in 7th position. Let's try and come back stronger next year.
SLK Cup Race 5: Zandvoort

Race 5 of the SLK cup took place at Zandvoort again. A bad qualifying meant that I needed to climb back up during the races. This went very well and soon I was back in the top 10. During the last race of the day it rained very hard so I was excited to race. After a few laps I found the quick lines but was becoming over confident...this resulted in quite some spins and excursions in the gravel. 7th overall in the end of the day
SLK Cup, Race 4: Spa-Francorchamps!

On the 9th and 10th of July we had our 4th race of the SLK Cup. This time we finally visited the legendary track of Spa-Francorchamps. What an experience! I ended the weekend in 7th position, which isn't bad but it could have been much better. You can see the reasons in my YouTube video report under 'Videos'.
SLK Cup, Race 3
June 26th, 2021
Again a weekend that didn't go the way as planned. Was lacking power for qualifying and race 1-2. Finally we had found the issue, a faulty MAF sensor. Replaced it for race 3 and I was finally back up to pace. Position wise a weekend to forget though.
SLK cup Race 2
May 25th, 2021
Just 2 weeks after racing in the Belcar Sprint Cup, the next race for the SLK cup was sheduled. It started good with a descent qualifying, but when going to the start for race 1 I was just a bit too late. Had to start from pitlane and that compromised the whole weekend off course. Had some amazing battles on track while working my way back up. In the end I still managed to climb up to a spot in the top 10.
Belcar Sprint Cup
May 12th, 2021
Past weekend was the debut of the new Belgian racing series 'Belcar Sprint Cup'. All races for this championship are being held at the Circuit of Zolder. There were 55 cars in total. I'm taking part in Class 3 (1800-2500cc). Engine modifications and such are allowed but I'm not doing that otherwise I can't participate in the SLK Cup anymore. Overall I finished in 23th position during race 1. In Race 2 I finished in 20th position. Next round of this championship is in September as part of the 24H of Zolder.
'Race 1' during Easter weekend

On Saturday 3th of April we had our first race weekend of 2021. Due to COVID we were not allowed to have a true race weekend so they replaced it with a so called 'Competition training'. Two timed sessions and then we would race, starting all behind each other under code 60. In the first race I finished in 7th position and the second race I finished 6th. In the overall standings I'm currently in 6th place.

2021 season kick off
March 29, 2021
On Saturday 3rd of April the 2021 SLK Cup will finally kick off. Unfortunately the actual racing has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
Instead we have a day of 'competition training', which will be good to measure my performance after a long winter stop.
After 2 timed sessions the field will start in a 'code 60' rolling start and then we can compete for places during that session.
Dyno test 26-03-2021

Last week all SLK cup cars had to visit Quattra Tuning for a dyno test. That's to see if you are complying with the rules and if so your engine and ECU are sealed for this season.
All was fine on my end, the car still made 197 HP.
Successful test 28-02-2021

On Sunday 28th of February I had booked an hour of track time to get some rhythm for the coming season. No issues whatsoever, and I managed a time of 1:57:92, with a full tank and very worn tires. Shame I only managed to do 9 laps due to an accident on track which cut the session short.
Test at the circuit of Zolder

The day after I will go test on the circuit of Zolder where I have chosen a 1 hour time slot to get into a rhythm again for the new season, have a feel for the car after the work done and just to have some fun in the car for an hour.

The Mercedes SLK will receive a new sump gasket, oil fiter and new spark plugs. These minor things should be enough to start the 2021 season.
