Motorsport debut: Rallycross 2010

January 1, 2010

Thanks to close family I finally decided to buy a race car and started competing. This first car was a Ford Fiesta. Extremely basic and not fast at all, but good enough to learn the basics.

Season 2, new car

January 1, 2011

For my second year in Rallycross, we decided to build a new Ford Fiesta. A fresh chassis with lots of improvements compared to the first one. Unfortunately the main issue this year were drive shafts, which broke constantly. I was sidelined more than I was racing.

Season 3, new colors same issues

January 1, 2012

This third season was better than the previous, driving wise, but the issues with the drive shafts remained.

The life of the Ford Fiesta was ended abruptly when another competitor smashed into me, bending the chassis.

A new beginning

January 1, 2013

A brand new car was build with a brand new racing engine. This Ford Ka finally enabled me to be competitive for the coming 3 years. I practically had to start over, learning everything, because suddenly the speed was much higher, I was battling on track and fighting for places in the finals, which I wasn't able to do before.

Season 5, first podium

January 1, 2014

This year went even better than the last and at the Glosso Circuit I finally clinched my first podium, coming in 3rd in the A-final.

I ended the season in 5th overall and was champion in my class for the state of Antwerp.

Season 6, continued succes

January 1, 2015

Boosting on the success of 2014 this year went great again. Unfortunately a second podium was robbed from me when I was crashed into so much, laying in second place, that my car finally broke completely.

2016, end of an era

January 1, 2016

New colors again for this new season, where I wanted to continue fighting for finals with my trusted Ford Ka.

But it wasn't meant to be, during the very first race of the season the engine died. Looking at the cost of rebuilding the engine, a decision was made to stop with the Ford Ka and build a brand new car again for the next year.

2016 - 2020: the never ending story

January 1, 2016-2020

The plan was to build a Ford Escort Mk2 and move up to the National Belgian Rallycross championship. However, it all costed so much more, work was put on hold and eventually after 2 years I departed from the racing team that always helped me the previous years. Together with my best friend we finished the car up to the point where it was easy to sell. In January 2020 everything was gone and I could finally start a new racing chapter.

2020: Mercedes-Benz SLK Cup

January 1, 2020

With the Escort gone, I was able to buy a Mercedes SLK Cup racer from Biesheuvel Autosport. This car had always been in the top 6 the previous year, so the car would be good enough.

For me it was getting used to circuit racing, which is completely different from Rallycross.

Becoming the 2020 Rookie Champion out of 6 rookies and ending the season in 5th overall out of 29 competitors, I do believe that the transition couldn't have gone better.

100% happy with my switch because the atmosphere in this cup is great.

2021 - 7th overall

April 13, 2021

My second season in the SLK cup. I was 5th in the overall standings all year long, but after deduction of 2 results I ended up 7th in the overall championship.

Unfortunately I had a bit too much bad luck this year: got to the grid too late one time so they put me at the back of the grid, air mass sensor broke, spark plug holder broke and in Spa there was chaos at the start which cost me nearly 10 places.

2022 - 7th overall

May 16, 2022

Brand new livery and I ended my third year in the SLK cup again in 7th position. Competition is getting very strong. Lap times that would get you a victory last year or in my first year are now only good enough for a spot somewhere in the top 10.
Had a few technical issues which caused me to loose a bit too many points in the end, but I had a blast again. On to the next season!

In the Belcar Sprint Cup I ended 3rd in class overall, even by just doing 2 events.
